Now that I know all about popcorn and it’s deliciousness, I recently got to try some other human food.
Tanya is a pretty generous person. How do I know? Well, she likes to remind us, when we get treats.
On weekends, Tanya makes bacon and eggs. Oh my, bacon. I do love da bacon. She likes it crispy and so do I. It makes the whole house smells good. She puts these strips on a tray and it goes in the oven. After some time, Tanya pulls out the tray and starts making herself scrambled eggs. They are not always scrambled though. Sometimes they are fried and other times, boiled. I don’t like those times since Sambuca and I don’t get any.

It’s a good morning today as Tanya cracks some eggs into a bowl and adds a bit of milk. Then she mixes it all together.
I’m in the kitchen watching. “I always make a little extra scrambled eggs for you and Sambuca.”
Thanks momma. Me love scrambled eggs.
In no time, Tanya fixes her plate with the strips of bacon and some scrambled eggs. Then she adds some eggs to Sambuca’s food dish and mine.
She also gathers some blueberries and tosses a few in each of our bowls.
Blueberries are great too! They are small and sweet. We sometimes get 2 or 3. I’m like, hey lady, give us more please. But no, Tanya doesn’t hear me.
She goes into the living room with her plate and glass of orange juice.
Sambuca is already there lying on the sectional in her usual spot.
I follow Tanya and jump up on the loveseat next to her. I need to inspect her food, make sure it is safe to eat. I mean, that’s part of being Super Pup.
“Stop that Appy.” I get pushed away.
I must insist and sniff her plate. It smells so good, and the bacon is within reach.
“Apothic Red Nelly Maier!”
Oh oh. When she uses my full name, it’s a sign I am in trouble. My ears are up and I give her the look of love.
She doesn’t fall for it. “Do I put my face near your food dish when you are eating breakfast?”
Ummm. Well, come to think of it, no. But you could.
“No I don’t. What do I tell you all the time when I am eating?”
Is this a trick question?
I look for help from Sambuca. She just shakes her head.
Tanya answers, “We always wait for me to finish what I am eating and then you and Sambuca get something.”
Oh yeah, right. Me forgot, momma. Sorry.
So, I wait and watch her eat. Finish up already lady!
“Alright, who wants some bacon!”
At last. The woman shares the good stuff.
Sambuca jumps off the sectional and jumps up to sit next to Tanya. “Hello, my sweet pea. You want some bacon?”
My big sister gently takes a piece of bacon from Tanya.
“Your turn, App.” She turns to me.
I grab the bacon. All this waiting has made me hungry.
“Ouch Appy! Gentle little one.” She scolds me.
We each get another tiny piece of bacon and then Tanya gets up and goes into the kitchen.
Sambuca and I follow.
“Okay time for your special breakfast girls!” Tanya announces. We both sit. We are ready.

“Not every pup gets scrambled eggs and blueberries, you know.”
Yada. Yada. Show me my bowl already.
Sambuca looks up at Tanya. Yes, thank you momma. She knows the game. “Good girl, Sambuca. Here you go” and puts her food dish down. “Here you go Appy.”
Finally. I love the way Tanya makes scrambled eggs. They are light and fluffy. And with blueberries, it’s an awesome breakfast.
Sambuca and I are really lucky.
We have an awesome mom. And we get to have bacon and eggs.
