Birthdays are the best since my mom, Tanya, usually spoils us on our special day.
Today I am nine years old. As per The Google, and because I am a miniature Schnauzer, I am between 52-56 years old in human-equivalent years. This means that I am about the same age as my momma. She’s going to be so mad when she sees this blog since I just gave her age away.
I’m not worried though. After all, I am Super Pup! I can cross a busy street without getting hit by a car! I am also an engineer at heart and love to take things apart. I leave it up to my momma to put it back together, if at all possible.
This morning, after our standard morning walk in the neighbourhood, I got a very special treat, a princess cookie.

OMG it was so big! All for me, momma?
“This was $7 Appy, at Global Pets! That’s A LOT of money, missy!” Tanya explains.
I got to bite it. Yesssss! Mine, mine, mine.
She takes it from my mouth saying, “Sorry, we need to share with the others.”

The others? What is this nonsense?
I get a stern glare from Tanya and release the $7 treat.
I take after my mom and I share. I get that from her. Like after our breakfast of kibble and some fancy mushroom tail powder probiotic sprinkled on top, Tanya makes some oatmeal for herself and adds cut strawberries. She puts a huge spoonful of oats and some fruit in each of our dog bowls. She eats first. Always. And I just stand there giving her the ‘poor me’ look. Tanya’s response is always to me is, “It has to cool down for you.”
Once it finally does and my food bowl is placed in my spot, I gobble it all up. Delicious!
As per Tanya, I am one lucky schnauzer.
Part of my diet includes blueberries, strawberries, broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, asparagus, and sometimes she prepares a mince meat supper that has da meat along with peas and spinach, with my boring kibble. I also get scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, chips and even popcorn. And oh, lots of mini milk bones, which aren’t very filling at all.
Then later, I got to play with my favourite toy ever, apart from Sheepy, which is my frisbee in our backyard. I have a frisbee for our beach outings that is in the car, a different one for home and I am also aware of a backup frisbee hidden in a cupboard. It was my big sister, Sambuca who taught me how to play with a frisbee and I am forever grateful for that.
The thing is bigger than my head but I manage very well to carry it in my mouth. I can flip it over in the grass, no problem.

My mom believes she can hide stuff from me but I am constantly onto her. I’m also aware of her several bags of dog stuffies in her closet for future gifts. The house is loaded with stuffies already so she may hold out on me this time. And I’m okay with that since really all I care about is food and treats!
After lunch, I get another treat and it’s this huge beef bone. I sniff it. This is new. I make myself comfortable on the love seat.

We all get our own. I am so thrilled. Maybe she got a senior discount since she went to the store on a Tuesday?
Since today is not only my birthday but something called Pay Day for my mom, she usually treats herself to some take-out food. She announced that it was going to be pizza from her favourite wood fired food truck, Dominic’s Cucina. Sometimes I get to go with her and I say hello to the guys. They are so nice but they have yet to provide me with my own pizza. Tanya only gives me pieces of the crust but I sure would love some calabrese salami!
Time for a little nap. Turning nine sure is tiring.
I make myself comfortable in my little pink dog bed in the home office and doze off dreaming of pizza crust.
